Season ends quickly for Devils

SAGINAW – The defending Div. 7 state champions proved to be too much for the Brown City Green Devils Friday night.

In pre-district play in the MHSAA high school football championships, Saginaw Nouvel Catholic rolled over the Devils, 41-6, in a pre-district at Nouvel.

Brown City, which finished the season at 5-5, trailed 7-6 after a quarter, but the Panthers, ranked No. 5 in Div. 7, led 21-6 at halftime and 35-6 after three quarters.

Brown City could not contain Nouvel running back Ryan Sullivan, who accounted for 246 yards rushing and four touchdowns.

Nouvel, 8-2 on the season, advances to the District championship next weekend against unbeaten Reese, 10-0 overall.
