Gary L. Wright Sr., 62, of Brown City, passed away unexpectedly Jan. 16, 2014 at home. He was born Sept. 26, 1951 in Highland Park to Carl F. and Verla E. (Chesney) Wright.
Gary proudly served his country for 35 years in the United States Army including a tour of duty in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He was currently employed with KLLM Trucking.
He enjoyed truck driving, riding motorcycle, going to auctions and tinkering in the garage. He was a great fan of John Wayne movies, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash.
He is survived by his wife Jill and nine children; Gary (Beverly) Jr., Cherisse, Jill (Inocente) Martinez, Don (Barb), William, Tommy, Michael, Matthew (Sam), Kristina (Toddy) Tasker; his father Carl F. Wright, one sister and three brothers; MaryAnn (David) Smith of Utica, George (Nancy) of Silverwood, Andy (Janel) of Manton, and Roger (Pam) of Brown City. He is also survived by 34 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother Verla E. Wright, sister Carole Pettit and brother Carl Wright Jr.
A funeral service was held Jan. 21, 2014 at Blackburn Funeral Chapel in North Branch with full military honors.
