Jamie Bird Jamie Bird BROWN CITY — Festival chairperson Jamie Bird says the 2018 Brown City Days Festival scheduled for June 7-10 promises to be bigger and better than ever.

“Some new things are in store for this year,” said Bird. “We’ve contracted with a different carnival company, Maple Leaf Amusements of Breckenridge, Michigan. We are looking forward to them having more rides and attractions.

“Regarding entertainment, Polk Salad Annie’s will be running most of the music programs throughout the festival,” said Bird.

“I know they are bringing back the popular Elvis, Patsy Cline, and Johnny Cash impersonators. Also, Frank Fiorello of Detroit Rock City Promotions will be handling our Music in the Park program set for Sunday, June 10 from 1:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.”

Bird continued, “We are really focused this year on providing free and low-cost fun for all ages. We will have a free rolling video game arcade for the kids on Saturday, June 9, from 10 a.m. to noon on Main Street.

“Bikers A-Cross the Thumb, a Christian motorcycle club, will be giving out free ice cream starting Saturday at 9:30 a.m. until they run out.

“There will be free pony rides at the park on Sunday, June 10 from noon to 3 p.m.

“We’ve got the car show downtown with music provided by Polk Salad Annie’s. And, of course, the fireworks at the park at dusk on Saturday night,” said Bird.

Advance sale carnival tickets will be available beginning Monday, May 14 at the Little Texas Party Store and Polk Salad Annie’s.

“The discounted price is $15 per person for one day of unlimited rides,” said Bird, “That is a nice saving over the regular $20 per person per day price.”

Bird said the midway opens at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 7 and Friday, June 8, and at noon on Saturday, June 9 and Sunday, June 10.

“We’ll have many more great activities listed in our newspaper ad and online,” said Bird.
