Brown City moves on to team wrestling regionals

Photo by Susan Morse BROWN CITY — The Brown City wrestling team beat Sandusky 40-29 and eliminated Marlette 1-0 in the Div. 4 team districts Thursday. Marlette beat Capac 43-42 before being eliminated.

Div. 2 at Cros-Lex

North Branch ended its season on Thursday, falling to Cros-Lex 63-15 in the district semifinals. Only three North Branch wrestlers won their individual matches.

Anthony Hobbs at 125 pinned Cros-Lex’s Jack Scheland at :51. Lonigan Guzman at 140 pinned Colton Emerick at 1:50. Marcos Rodriguez at 215 won a 8-4 decision over Blake Falter.

North Branch also wrestled in the Div. 2 individual districts at Goodrich High School on Saturday after we went to press. The Broncos competed against wrestlers from Armada, Auburn Hills Avondale, Cros-Lex, Fenton, Goodrich, Holly, Imlay City, Linden Marysville, Orchard Lake St. Marys, Ortonville Brandon, Pontiac, Notre Dame Prep and St. Clair. The top four wrestlers in each weight class will advance to the regional championship against the top four from the Clinton district on Feb. 17 at Gaylord High School. -— J.O.
