MRH offers free educational seminar on Atrial Fibrillation (Afib)

MARLETTE — Your heart is one of the most important organs in your body, the powerhouse that is responsible for just about everything that gives your body life. It’s so important that there is an entire month dedicated to it — February is American Heart Month.

In an effort to spotlight a common condition affecting many residents of the Thumb region, Marlette Regional Hospital (MRH) is offering a free educational seminar about atrial fibrillation (Afib) on Wednesday, Feb. 28 from 1-2 p.m. in the MRH Seton Lobby.

This seminar will share valuable information about Afib, the connection between Afib and stroke, and options available to manage your stroke risk. The seminar will be presented by cardiologist Safwan Kassas, MD, FACC who will also be sharing information about the Watchman™ implant device that has been nationally televised and advertised. Reduced cost laboratory screenings — such as total cholesterol, complete blood count, liver panel and several others — will be offered to seminar participants. Light snacks and refreshments will be served and attendees are welcome to bring family and friends.

To register, call the MRH Foundation at 989-635-4011. To stay updated on future educational offerings, visit www.marletteregionalhospital.org or “Like” us on Facebook.
