Betty C. Firmingham, age 72, of Brown City, died June 9, 2017. She was born in Pontiac, to Carl and Hazel James. Betty graduated from Standish High School Class of 1962.

Betty was a housewife, mother and proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She liked to draw and sketch pictures with pencil and enjoyed painting with oils on canvas. Her favorite card game was Skipbo. Betty wrote poetry and played Bingo.

She is survived by four children; Pamela (Roger) Wright, Ronald Gingerich, Michael (Barb) Gingerich and Shannon (Stephen) Crider, a step-mother, Irene James along with 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings, Carla Masson, JoAnn Smith and Bill James.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband; her father, Carl and mother, Hazel; two brothers, Jerry and Carl James and a grandson, Krystopher Gingerich.

Funeral services were conducted at Carman Funeral Home in Brown City.

Casket bearers were Brandon Gingerich, Matt Gingerich, Craig Gingerich, Roger Wright Jr. Michael Crider, Chase Smith and Joseph Hammond.

Burial was in Indianfields Township Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the family to defray expenses.
