The Dare Devil Dash, a 5K/agility run, will be held at Brown City Community Park on July 30. Register by July 15. “One World-Many Stories” is the theme for the 2011 Summer Reading Program at Brown City Public Library. The program continues through July 28. There are many great prizes young readers can win. There is a Read-to-Me program for pre-school age children as well. Library hours are Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Wednesday from noon-9 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. -1 p.m.

Farm/Flea Market at The Depot in Marlette from 8 a.m. until afternoon. Farm venders include plants, eggs, baked goods, vegetables. Flea market venders remind us that one person’s junk is another person’s treasure.

Brown City City Council meets on the second and fourth Monday of every month at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 4205 Main St. The public is welcome to attend.

The Over 50s Group will meet for a summer picnic lunch at 12:30 p.m. at the home of Myrt Kohn, 4231 2nd St. in Brown City. Bring your own table service and a dish to pass. You do not need to be a member to attend. Call 810-346- 2027.

The Sanilac Baby Pantry is open every second and fourth Monday of each month from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at their new location, The Kid’s Connection, 217 E. Sanilac in Sandusky, across from Auto Value. Pregnant women in their third trimester are eligible to collect baby items and are welcome to come in earlier in their pregnancy for maternity clothing. Call 810-648- 9395.

Brown City Thumb Area Soybean Festival Committee meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.

Alcoholics Anonymous support group meets each Tuesday at 7 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Church Parish Hall, 6785 W. Marlette St. in Marlette. Contact Rita at 989-635- 7581 for more information.

July 13

Brown City Veterans of Foreign Wars meets the second Wednesday of each month at the VFW hall on Maple Valley Road at 7 p.m. Call Bill Pepper for more information at 810-346-2600.

Brown City Public Library is offering a Sit & Knit & Crochet time each Wednesday from 7-8:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come and share patterns and ideas with others.

July 14

The Brown City Park Board meets on the second Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 4205 Main St. The public is welcome to attend.

July 15

BINGO! Every Friday night the Lexington Lions Club hosts an evening of bingo to raise funds for ongoing community projects. Come and enjoy the games, the friends and refreshments at the Lexington Lions Hall on Huron, downtown Lexington. Play begins at 7 p.m.

July 17 Peck Senior Citizens meet for a potluck lunch on the third Sunday of every month at 1 p.m. at the Village Senior Hall. All seniors welcome. Call 810-378-5101 or 810-378- 5239.

July 18

A Fibromyalgia Support Group meets the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at Open Door Missionary Church, 770 Sanilac Rd. in Sandusky. Everyone is welcome at the educational meetings concerning the effect that Fibromyalgia has on one’s mental and physical state. Call 810-622-9528.

July 19

Sanilac County Genealogical Society pot-luck picnic will be at 6 p.m, located 1/4 mile west of Four Corners. Bring a dish to pass, table service and beverage. Call 810-679- 9929.

The Brown City Evergreen Cemetery Board will meet at City Hall at 9 a.m.

July 20

Burnside Seniors meet each third Wednesday of the month at Harrington Inn for a dinner at 12:30 p.m. Everyone welcome. Call 688- 3717.

Brown City Library Board meets the third Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the library.

July 23

The 6th Annual Concert and Fundraiser at Summer Wind Farms Sanctuary from 1 p.m till dusk at 6490 Mowerson Rd. Guided animal tours, DJ, bands, raffles, concessions, pony rides, games and more. Fun for the entire family. $12 at the gate, under 5 free. 810-378-4991.
