Alcoholics Anonymous support group meets each Tuesday at 7 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Church Parish Hall, 6785 W. Marlette St. in Marlette. Contact Rita at 989-635-7581 for more information.

Sept. 2

The Brown City Planning Commission meets on the first Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 4205 Main St. The public is welcome to attend.

Sept. 5

Mama Ruth Chicken and Ham Dinner will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Sts Peter and Paul School, in Ruth. Adults $10, children $5 and preschool free. Entertainment, games, dancing all afternoon. Music provided by Natural Tones and Darrell Weltin Band.

Sept. 7

The Brown City Fire Authority will meet at the fire hall, 4090 Main St. in Brown City. This meeting is open to all members of the public under Michigan's Open Meetings Acts.

Brown City Veterans of Foreign Wars meets the second Wednesday of each month at the VFW hall on Maple Valley Road at 7 p.m. Call Bill Pepper for more information at 810- 346-2600.

The Brown City Park Board meets on the second Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 4205 Main St. The public is welcome to attend.

The Sandusky Thumb Dancers will hold a dance at Maple Valley School from 7-11 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Hot dogs and blue jeans. Bring finger foods and friends. Music by: Natural Tones

Marlette Masonic Breakfast/Brunch every second Sunday of each month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. located across from McDonald’s restaurant on M-53 just south of downtown. Adults $6 and children under 12 $3.

Brown City City Council meets on the second and fourth Monday of every month at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 4205 Main St. The public is welcome to attend.

Burnside Seniors will meet for lunch at Harrington Inn in Brown City at 12:30 p.m.. All seniors welcome.

Sept. 18

The Pregnancy Resource Center 5K Run & Walk for Life begins at the historic Lapeer courthouse lawn at 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 18. Participant registration is from 7:30- 8:45 am. This year’s event features activities for the whole family including a half mile Kid’s Race. Children 10 and under will run for fun following the run and walk and everyone receives a medal! Enjoy the free refreshments before and after the event.

Sanilac Drug Task Force is sponsoring an old prescription drug drop off box to safely dispose of out dated RX medications from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Marlette Police Dept Lobby, 6436 Morris St. Locations will also be available in Sandusky, Lexington and Deckerville.
